ASUNCION MEJIAS

  • Current Position(s):  Principal investigator in the Center for Vaccines and Immunity at The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital. She is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the The Ohio State University College of Medicine and faculty from the Division of Infectious Diseases.
  • Workplace: Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. 
  • Title(s): MD, PhD
  • Education: Facultad de Medicina University de Malaga (completed in 1995), Internship & Residency at Hospital Generol Universitario Gregario Maranon (Finished 2001). Two Fellowships at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (completed in 2003 and 2006), graduated at University Autonóma of Madrid & Facultad de Medicina, University of Málaga, Spain (2010). Finished her masters at MSCS, Masters in Clinical Sciences, University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, TX (2011)
  • Specific expertise: Her research program focuses on the immunopathogenesis of respiratory viral infections and the mechanisms of viral-host interaction using a multidisciplinary approach, with particular emphasis on respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection.
